Announcing Our New Canon for Leadership Development
After a church-wide search with a field of strong candidates, we are pleased to announce that Rev. Stephanie Allen will be joining us as Canon for Leadership Development here in the Diocese of East Carolina. Stephanie will begin this new call on November 13th.
Stephanie is a long-time leader, having served as priest in Raleigh and Rocky Mount since 2008 and holding a strong record of diocesan service in the Diocese of North Carolina. As a leader in diocesan ministries and governance, Stephanie served as the Chair for the Commission on Ministry for Priests, a Trustee of the Diocese, and a Dean, among other roles that will enable her to step in smoothly as Canon for Leadership Development. We look forward to Stephanie sharing with us in the development of leaders living into our Mission Priorities.
Stephanie greets the diocese, saying, “There has been a recent re-recording of an old bluegrass song called ‘If you don’t love your neighbor, then you don’t love God.’ I like that message, but I have to say for me, it is a both/and. I love God because I love people, and I am able to love people because I love God! My lived reality of a loving God has always come through my experience of witnessing love in action by the people around me. I am super excited to get to know all of you and experience with you the many ways God’s love is manifested by the people of the Diocese of East Carolina.”
We are excited for Stephanie to begin in the role of Canon for Leadership Development in November. Please join us in welcoming Stephanie to the team!
