Step Three of L.A.T.I.N.O. (Level 1)
Step Three: Making a connection in terms of space.
One of the easiest things your church can do to let Spanish speakers know you care about them is simply putting some Spanish Language signage outside your church, such as "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You" in Spanish. The sign alone will let Spanish speakers know that, as a church community, you are aware of and appreciate their presence. If you cannot offer a Spanish-Language service, be sure to communicate that. Also, be sure to avail yourself of Spanish-Language support for your English language services; this allows Spanish-speaking parents and their English-speaking children to readily attend. Just remember to under-promise and over-deliver.
Contact the Rev. Fred Clarkson for help with signage and Spanish-Language support.
